Bargecamp is honored to present SECRET JAMS by The Modern Folk as our inaugural release! The Modern Folk is a borderless musical recording and improvisational group based mostly out of the Cowlitz and Clackamas land currently known as Portland, Oregon. They make folk music, when and where they can.

“As far as the backstory goes, the song-songs here are a representation of the fun we had in practice during a certain phase of the band (2022-2023?), experiments in genre, mostly showing our love for punk and power-pop, that didn't fit other places but I believe fit together. They were all composed on the spot and recorded in one or two takes. The exception to that is "Soft Music for Hard Times", which I recorded by myself, but it's still relevant because the times have not gotten any softer. The longer jams are just tasty jams with titles I really liked!”
